AtoZChallenge 2020
Good morning/afternoon/evening Lovelies๐, I hope everyone is safe and well today as we launch into B.
Now when I say Brownies, I am sure everyone will be thinking of the deliciously squidgy chocolate delights we have all come to love, but we are here to discus a different type of Brownies I am afraid. I do however have a link to a delicious and healthy brownie recipe at the bottom of the post, so stick with me ๐.
B is for Brownies
Brownies
Brownie |
Brownies are small household spirits which come out at night to clean and perform other household chores while the residents of the house sleep. (Wikipedia has the traditional definition here).
The Manor has a clan of brownies living within its walls. It is a large stately home style building with out buildings and more, and the brownies keep it clean and tidy. Given the sexy games that go on inside the Manor walls, they are a godsend, since they keep the place spotless, no matter what the members have been up to ๐.
When Lucy originally built the Manor, she had servants like any other large house, but, attracted by the magic and security offered by the Manor and its grounds, the brownies soon arrived.
They are never seen by most of the residents, not even Lucy has seen them directly, although they have adapted over the years and these days they leave messages on her computer when necessary. The only person living at the Manor who communicates with them directly is Sari, since they are a recluse and very rarely leave their rooms, hence they and the brownies have come to an arrangement.
Contrary to popular folklore, brownies do not leave if offered clothes. In fact, Sari, a designer by trade, has made them many small clothes as thanks for keeping their workroom clean and tidy. This legend came about because if you offend brownies they will leave and offering them scraps as an afterthought will offend them. However, as long as the gift is heartfelt and well meant, they are more than happy.
Lucy would have liked to simply allow the brownies to take whatever they need from around the Manor, but since they have no concept of personal belongings, this would be problematic, hence there is a store of food and other items for them in the cellar and Lucy makes sure they have everything they need or request.

Okay, maybe I'm the only one who thought fairy creature before thinking of eating... :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea that nice clothes don't send the brownies away!!
The Multicolored Diary
I can see why you would ๐ - I'm guessing it comes with the territory! In my world brownies are proud, not natureists ๐.
DeleteI admit, I was definitely thinking, "Oh, YUM!" at the word 'brownies'. *laugh*
ReplyDeleteI don't think there are housekeeping spirits in the folklore of my region, but I like the concept. I've often thought it would be nice to have assistance in that department. A laundry fairy would be ideal. ;)
I could definitely do with the help myself too ๐
DeleteAnd now I am craving chocolate because of the other sort of brownies too.
Great minds think alike: my post for B is also about Brownies from folklore :-) Sounds like the Manor has great attendants and is spotless!
ReplyDeleteAn A-Z of Faerie: Brownies
Totally spotless - you could see your face in the polished surfaces.
DeleteWow, I'd love to have some cleaning brownies here at home. But maybe my hyperactive doggy and my love to their chocolate counterpart would scare them away. I'll check the recipe, thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteHannelore
I would love some helpful brownies too, but the choccie ones will have to do ๐
DeleteFun way to use the brownies. Sounds like a mutually beneficial arrangement.
ReplyDeleteAs all the best arrangements should be ๐ Thank you for visiting.
DeleteI wish I had these kind of brownies in my house, but I think the kids prefer the edible kind given the choice.
ReplyDeleteBoth - both would be good. ๐
DeleteShould any brownies choose to take up residence here, I promise I would be both respectful and generous in my support. And while I'm waiting to see if any show up, I'll definitely be trying that recipe.
