AtoZChallenge 2020
Hello Lovelies, and welcome to the letter F. Today is an exciting day because it is the launch of my Virginia Waytes' Sexy Stories podcast! Check out the end of this post for the first episode and links to the first eBook. The podcast is free to listen to, and the eBook for the first episode is also free to download (except on Amazon until they price match it since they won't let us put up free books). This month on the AtoZ I am introducing the characters the places and the universe of The Manor - enjoy.
F is for Family & Episode 1
Many of the residents of The Manor are there because they have nowhere else to go. Some have families they would not wish on their worst enemies, others have lost those they love to death and some were simply rejected.
Lucy Smythe never exactly had a normal family life when she was young. Born from a succubus mother and a vampire father by magic, hers was never destined to be a regular destiny, but she did have her father for a long time. He taught her everything she knew until the moment he was taken away from her, and family means a lot to her.
Hence, when Lucy created The Manor and began inviting others to live with her, she never thought of it as having guests or employees, but more of building her own, extended, very weird family.
No one at The Manor has to work or be part of the business. Everyone is invited to, but she welcomes them to stay no matter what. A sex club is the perfect cover for a supernatural haven because many of the supernatural races are inclined to enjoy or use sex anyway, but no one is compelled to be any part of it.
Because of this, very few are thrown out. Disputes and problems are usually worked out, like with any family, but it does occasionally happen. Lucy always beats herself up about such things, but if a resident proves they cannot be trusted and are a danger to others, she has to keep everyone else safe. She is the matriarch and she makes it her business to look after all in her house.
What helps Lucy as she gathers her strays and helps those who need it is a sixth sense that has a useful habit of pointing her in the right direction. It's almost as if the universe wants her to keep building her clan.

I think the podcast is an awesome idea, though I have to say I'm for reading myself rather than listening. It was cool to hear you read.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I wanted to try something new. I do love reading, but I find listening a different experience. If audiobooks weren't so expensive I might invest in a few more.
DeleteI adore found families :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the first episode!
The Multicolored Diary
It's such a great concept in all sorts of stories - it's very prevelant in fanfiction.
DeleteThank you. I hope people enjoy it.
Rather enjoyed the podcast. Can't wait for the book to be available on Kobo for me to get it :-) Excellent world-building.
ReplyDeleteAn A-Z of Faerie: Furies
Thank you. I am just waiting for Smashwords to put it through to their premium catalog for distribution. Usually it's pretty quick, but I suspect things may be a little slower at the moment. It also being an adult title they may vet it with a little more scrutiny.
DeleteI like the egalitarian philosophy she has built The Manor on.
