AtoZChallenge 2020
Greetings, Lovelies. I hope you are staying safe and well. Welcome to the second to last day of the #AtoZChallenge - can you believe that we have made it? For this year's AtoZ I am introducing my new podcast and eBooks, with character intros, places and themes from The Manor. The episodes go out every Tuesday so look up E, L, R & X, or just check out the podcast & book pages.
Don't forget that the first eBook in the series is free, so you can get a feel for them, and the podcast is completely free to listen to - not even any ads.
Today I have a character profile and an introduction to a kind of being in The Manor's universe. Enjoy. 💖
Y is for Yuki-onna
Full Name: Fuyuko
Aka: Ko-chan
Species: yuki-onna
Age: unspecified
Hair: black
Eyes: black
Height: 5'7''
Pronouns: she/her
The yuki-onna or snow woman is a rare being from Japan, a yokai.
There are many legends of the yuki-onna giving them many different aspects and
powers from the ability to turn to a flurry of snow to their immortality, but
all agree they have an affinity with the cold.
There is a yuki-onna at The Manor and her name is Fuyuko.
These being are, in fact, a form of energy vampire. They require
the life essence of other lifeforms to survive. They can use this feeding to
kill if they so choose, leaving a victim looking as if they have been frozen to death. However,
they are not inherently evil beings and usually only take a little from their
prey, so much so, most would not even notice. If they are crossed, though, they
can be extremely dangerous. They are ethereal beings, able to become snow,
frost or even ice and, if they want you dead, there is not a lot that can stop
them.
Fuyuko is a very private, reserved individual in her
personal life, keeping a great deal to herself, although she has nothing
against others in principal. However, she has a very different, outgoing
persona she uses as part of The Manor's adult entertainment. She often has
clients every night, sometimes more than one, so she can maintain herself
without endangering any of them.
If there is one weakness for a yuki-onna it is love. When
they are in love and loved in return, a yuki-onna can appear to be a normal
human, the energy between them and their mate sustaining them completely.
However, it also makes them vulnerable, because they will do just about
anything for their loved one.
Fuyuko left her home and came to England because of love.
She lost her heart to an English pilot just after the Second World War and became
his wife. However, when she did not age, he became afraid of her and kicked her
out. With nowhere to go, she became a prostitute in London to keep herself
alive and met Lucy when there was a spate of unusual, supernatural murders. She
helped Lucy figure it out and they became friends.
Lucy offered to help her get home to Japan, but Fuyuko felt
she could not leave until her husband died, even though he had betrayed her. Of
course, Lucy offered her a home. It came with no strings, but Fuyuko is quite
comfortable with her professional persona, and it makes feeding
straightforward. Her husband did die in the early 2000s, but by then, she was
settled and remains one of The Manor's residents.
Thank you for reading.
Please do comment below and link me to your AtoZ posts if you are taking part 💖. If you don't know what to say feel free to use to question below for inspiration, but don't feel you have to answer it.
Q. How far would you go for love?
I think love should be a continuation of a person. If it is making you do things you find wrong then it is not love, it is obsession. However, I also think love is a wonderful and great gift that should be cherished and maintained.
My other self (Natasha Duncan-Drake) is also taking part in this years AtoZChallenge over at Tasha's Thinkings. Her theme is Vampire Drabbles (100 word stories). Y is for Yesteryear

Ooh, a Yuki-Onna! Lovely :) I like those stories, and they are a lot less known than others.

I like the information on this special ethereal being.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I did a post about Yuki Onna and her counterpart, Tsurara Onna, a while back and enjoyed the research immensely :-)
